What is good water?
The water that flows from household pipes varies by region. This is water from the public water supply system. If you have your own well or other local water source, its quality may be of any quality and analysis is necessary.
There is a basic classification of water according to the content of dissolved minerals:
Soft water
EC is lower than 0.4 – the EC value must be increased to 0.4 with CANNA CALMAG AGENT.
Normal water
EC is between 0.4 - 0.5. It contains dissolved calcium, magnesium and sodium bicarbonate, which stabilizes the pH of the water. All CANNA products are designed to work ideally with normal water.
Hard water
Has an EC value above 0.5 and contains more calcium and magnesium than the plant can use. If you have hard water, the best way to correct it is to get a reverse osmosis filter. This produces fully demineralized water with a near zero EC value. The filtered water is then mixed with hard water to achieve an EC value of 0.4. You can also use just the filtered water from the reverse osmosis and adjust the EC value to 0.4 with CANNA CALMAG AGENT. This way you can ensure that the resulting water contains the perfect ratio of minerals for your plants.
Unsuitable water
Water with an EC value above 0.5 due to sodium and chloride content is unsuitable for cultivation. These components block the absorption of further nutrients and can be toxic to the plant. In this case too, the situation can be solved by reverse osmosis, but in this case the EC value can be adjusted by partially mixing filtered and normal water. Mix the filtered water with part of the unsuitable water to achieve an EC value of 0.2. This will add enough bicarbonate to stabilize the pH. Use CANNA CALMAG AGENT to then bring the EC value to 0.4.
How do you know if you have unsuitable water?
